Not all pitches are created equal.

Concept picture book and expository nonfiction pitches need special attention!

Concept picture books and expository nonfiction picture books are unique from narrative picture books and need their own kinds of pitches.

Concept books teach about things like counting, shapes, the alphabet, seasons, and more. Examples include Chicka Chick Boom Boom, Pink is for Blobfish, and 365: How to Count a Year.

Expository nonfiction picture books explore a specific topic in a fun and engaging way (but usually not in a way that uses storytelling conventions). Examples include Butt or Face?, Grand Canyon, and We Are Grateful.

If your picture book manuscript is a concept or expository nonfiction, this is your lucky day!
